What we know about you, and why.

The enquiry form

The form asks for your name, your business name, your email address, a phone number if you want a call back, and your message. We ask for nothing we do not need in order to reply.

We use it to answer you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in replying to somebody who asked us a question. Formspree, Inc. relays it to our inbox and keeps a copy as our form provider.

We keep an enquiry for twelve months if nothing comes of it, and for as long as our accounting records require if it turns into work. Ask us to delete it sooner and we will.

Email, phone and WhatsApp

If you contact us directly, your message travels through the provider you and we use: our mailbox runs on Namecheap's Private Email, and WhatsApp messages pass through Meta. Each processes your message under its own privacy terms.

Applying for a job

Applications are covered by their own notice rather than this one, because the information belongs where the CV is handed over. It is called How we handle applications, it sits under the careers section, and it is linked from every job advert and from the application form itself.

Analytics, only if you allow it

The site loads no analytics until you choose Allow analytics in the cookie notice. If you do, two things load: Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page visits in aggregate, sets no cookies and does not identify you; and Google Analytics, which sets two cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by our property id, and reports to Google LLC in aggregate. Google advertising features, signals and personalisation are switched off in the tag and in the property, so nothing here feeds advertising.

Your choice is stored in your browser, not on our servers. Change it any time through Cookie choices in the footer. Withdrawing switches Google Analytics off and deletes its cookies, and nothing loaded under the old answer keeps collecting.

What the site stores on your device

Three things, and this is all of them. Nothing else is written to your device: no advertising cookies, no pixels, no fingerprinting.

valten.consent

Local storage, not a cookie. It holds your answer to the cookie notice so the site stops asking. It stays until you change the answer or clear your browsing data, and it never leaves your device.

vs_apply

A cookie, set only on the careers pages. It carries a signed timestamp and a puzzle that keeps scripts from flooding the application form. It identifies nobody, it needs no consent because the form cannot work without it, and it expires in three hours.

_ga and _ga_ followed by our property id

Cookies, and only once you have allowed analytics. Google Analytics uses them to tell a returning visit from a new one. They are set to last two years; Safari shortens that to seven days.

Who handles it, and where it goes

The providers named above are United States companies. Vercel, Inc. hosts the site and keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses and request times, for security and uptime. Formspree, Inc. relays what the forms send. Namecheap, Inc. runs our mailbox, Meta carries WhatsApp messages, and Google LLC receives analytics if you allowed it. Personal data reaching any of them leaves the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, and we rely on each provider's published transfer safeguards for that.

Nobody else receives it. We do not sell data, we do not share it for advertising, and no third party has access to our inbox.

Your rights

UK and EU law gives you the right to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy you can take elsewhere. Write to contacts@valtenstudio.com and we will act on it.

If you think we have handled your data badly, complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK or to the CNPD in Portugal.

Changes

When the substance of this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
