The menu is the site.
A neighbourhood restaurant lives on its carta and its regulars. The website has one job: make tonight's decision easy. What is on the menu, what does it cost, is there a table.
Daily suggestions change before lunch. If updating them means calling whoever built the site, they go stale by Thursday and the page starts lying about what the kitchen is cooking.
What we built.
01
Set the carta like print
Entradas to sobremesas with dotted leaders and real prices, in type that would not look wrong on paper.
02
Gave the daily sheet its own card
Sugestões de Hoje renders as a dated slip beside the hero. The kitchen edits three lines; nothing else moves.
03
Kept the reservation one tap away
Reservar Mesa follows the reader, and the hours sit beside it so nobody turns up to a closed room.
04
Wrote it in Braga's Portuguese
Portuguese first, English second. The dishes keep their names; the descriptions do the explaining.
Measured in reservations.
One number carries a restaurant page, and it moves on small mechanics. Here is the number, and the two mechanics behind it.
4×
table requests in tourist months
Visitors read the carta on a phone and ask for a table from the same screen.
3
lines in the daily sheet
Sugestões de Hoje, built for a rewrite before lunch; nothing else moves.
1
tap to ask for a table
Reservar Mesa stays with the reader, with the hours beside it.
